State Representative Steve Santarsiero has received the endorsement of the
Pennsylvania Sierra Club, an organization that advocates for environmental
conservation.
“It is an honor and a privilege to be endorsed by the
Sierra Club. Even before I was elected as a State Representative or Lower
Makefield Township supervisor, I was fighting hard to preserve open space and
protect our natural resources,” Santarsiero said. “I have been a leader in the
fight to preserve open spaces, such as our successful effort that stopped Matrix
properties from building a big box store in Lower Makefield
Township.”
Santarsiero is a former Lower Makefield Township supervisor
and is currently a first-term state representative. He serves on the
Environmental Resources and Energy Committee and was an advocate for the
moratorium on natural gas drilling in Pennsylvania’s state parks, which passed
earlier this year.
“Our state forests were preserved over 100 years ago
for generations of Pennsylvanians to enjoy. We should not undo that wise policy
for a short term gain. Our top priorities should be protecting the health of our
children and preserving our forests for future generations” said
Santarsiero.
Jeff Schmidt, executive director of the Pennsylvania Sierra
Club, praised Santarsiero, calling him one of the strongest votes for
conservation on the Environmental Resources and Energy Committee and a strong
voice in Harrisburg for protecting clean water, saving open space, and reducing
greenhouse gas emissions.
Santarsiero is running for re-election for a
second term in the State House of Representatives.
