For those who want a fiscally responsible state representative the choice is
clear: Steve Santarsiero. In just two years in office, Steve has voted to cut
state spending and balance the state's budget without raising either the state
income or sales tax. Moreover, Santarsiero is a reformer who does not take the
many perks that are available to lawmakers - and he is the only representative
from Bucks who does not take the $163 per diem, the check that most lawmakers
accept for just showing up in Harrisburg.
In contrast, Steve's opponent, Newtown Supervisor Robert Ciervo, voted to
spend millions of dollars on a new municipal building, putting taxpayers in debt
(minutes of Dec. 12-7, 2008). He then changed a local law that made if hard for
politicians to raid the township's reserve to fund additional spending (minutes
of Dec. 30, 2009). We cannot afford that kind of recklessness in Harrisburg.
